NBK Walkathon on 26th March 2011

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) is organizing its 17th Annual Walkathon that will take place on Saturday 26th of March 2011 under the title “Habibityi ya Kuwait” in tandem with the celebrations of Kuwait’s 50th anniversary of Independence, 20th  anniversary of Liberation and 5th anniversary since H.H. the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah assumed his post. The Walkathon event will also feature a host of functions, activities and competitions with rewarding prizes and rewards awaiting the participants.


Definition of walking

Walking is proceeding in a pace touching the ground constantly.
- During the two stages of each step the front foot should be on the ground before the back foot leaves the ground.
- The support foot should be straight at least at the moment of the vertical position.
 

General conditions of the race

1. The race is open to both genders of all nationalities.
2. Members of sport clubs and sport organizations are not allowed to participate (Army – Police – National Guard).
3. The length of the race is 8 km for males starting from Scientific Center (Ras Al Salmiya) and ends at the Green Island on Gulf Road.
4. The length of the race is 6 km for females starting from Marina Mall (Crescent side) and ends at the green island on Gulf Road.

The apron color of both men and women will be divided as follows:

- Medical checkup is the participant’s responsibility and should be conducted at the registration center, clinic or hospital.
- The participant should wear the proper sports outfit.
- The race will take place on Saturday 26th March 2011.
- All participants are required to show up in the start site of the race at 2:00 pm.
- It is not allowed to participate in the race without the numbered apron assigned by the organizing committee.
- The first ten winners from each category will be presented with valuable cash prizes.
- If any participant seeks outside help (bicycle, car, instructions, etc) he/she will be disqualified.
- Rest areas will be available through out the race (water).
- If the participant violates the norms of walking as mentioned in the definition he/she will be disqualified.
- Medical aid is not considered a violation.
- Arbitration in this race is done by the referees assigned by the Kuwait Amateur Athletic Federation.
- Apart from this, the race is subject to the international law of walking.


Notice

- All participants are requested to walk on the walking area of the street during the race.
- Transportation will be available on the day of the race to and from the Green Island.
- The medical check up is mandatory for all participants, and the bank does not assume any responsibility for the health of any participant.
